Ministerie van Gezondheid, Milieu en Natuur (G&GZ)

Ministerie van Gezondheid, Milieu en Natuur is relocating the afdeling G&GZ from an outdated, unhealthy building to a modern, fresh workspace. This move marks more than just a physical shift—it represents a renewed commitment to health, balance, and well-being within the public sector. As part of this larger transition, architecture firm 4C Architecture was commissioned to design the new office space. Within this context, we were invited to develop and deliver the mural design concept, focusing on bringing the Ministry’s brand essence into the physical space in a creative, meaningful way.

Transforming workspace with abstract murals rooted in values and vitality

Challenge

The Ministry didn’t just need wall decoration; they needed visual storytelling that could communicate purpose, uplift the atmosphere, and anchor the space in their mission.

The challenge was to design murals that would emotionally and conceptually support the transformation from an outdated, unhealthy workspace to one rooted in health, connection, and renewal. They had to translate the Ministry’s values into visual form, spark daily inspiration, and foster a positive sense of identity. Every design choice needed to feel intentional and aligned with the overarching goal: creating a healthy, modern workspace that reflects the Ministry’s commitment to care, environment, and internal culture.

solution

We created a concept built around two main themes: “Flow” and “Vitality,” using blue and green as the guiding colors.

The blue murals represent flow, creativity, and calm. Inspired by water, the designs use abstract, fluid strokes and water-brush effects to bring movement, balance, and inspiration into the work environment.

The green murals symbolize vitality, renewal, and nature. With bright tones and nature-inspired compositions—ranging from abstract impressions to detailed close-ups—we created a fresh, energetic feel that brings the outdoors in. The green lines reflect health, sustainability, and inner calm, aligned with the Ministry’s environmental values.

Result

The result is a carefully curated environment where design and identity are seamlessly aligned. The murals add depth, color, and emotion to the space—supporting creativity, calm, and pride. Employees are surrounded by art that speaks directly to the heart of their mission, reminding them of the values they uphold each day.

This project is a great example of how branding can be brought into physical space—not through logos or signage, but through atmosphere, texture, and message. In collaboration with 4C Architecture, we contributed a layer of meaning and identity to the architectural transformation. The Ministry now occupies not just a new building, but a space that feels like a true reflection of who they are and what they stand for.
